TRANSFERS: Abbott makes first signing

14 June 2013

Wide man pens deal

Carlisle United are delighted to announce that manager Greg Abbott has made his first summer signing as former-Liverpool, Preston and Tranmere wide man David Amoo joins the club on a two-year deal.

Amoo, 22, put pen-to-paper this morning on a deal which will run to 30 June 2015.

"David fits the bill of the type of player we want to bring into the squad," Abbott said.

"He's quick and exciting on the ball and we think he'll bring a bit of the pace and flair we've been talking about."

"The important thing for us is that he wants to play football," he continued. "He's at an age where he's ready to kick on and, hopefully, that's exactly what will happen here with us.

"He's one we're really looking forward to working with."

London-born Amoo started his career as a youngster with Millwall but was quickly snapped up by Merseyside giants Liverpool at the age of 16.

Whilst at Anfield he enjoyed loan spells with MK Dons, Hull and Bury. His time with the Shakers brought four goals in 27 appearances which earned him a permanent move to Deepdale in July 2012 once his contract at Anfield had expired.

He joined Tranmere on a six-month deal in January this year and scored one goal in his 11 appearances at Prenton Park.
