Carlisle United is one of more than 80 clubs who have joined forces to combat the climate crisis ahead of the first ever Green Football Weekend - and supporters are also being encouraged to take action.

The Green Football Weekend will take place from Friday 3 February to Sunday 5 February, with the Blues at home to Harrogate that weekend.
We have a number of initiatives planned for that weekend – more details to follow.
The club and Green Football Weekend organisers are encouraging everyone across the game to carry out small actions which can make a difference to the environment and your pocket.
Perhaps it could include you going vegetarian for a day, or two, turning the thermostat down one degree, or two, and even taking shorter showers can all have a positive impact.
What fans can do now – sign up for the Green Football Cup
To start things off, United fans can show support by taking part in the Planet League Green Football Cup as part of the Carlisle United team.
The winning club will pick up the inaugural Green Football Cup and an area of rainforest the size of 1,000 football pitches will be protected by Rainforest Trust UK in the name of that club.
Other prizes are also up for grabs.

The club is working with the Carlisle United Football Club Community Sports Trust [CUFCCST] in schools to score goals as part of its community activities.
Chief executive Nigel Clibbens said: “By making small changes in what we do we can all make a difference.
“With the club being at risk of flooding we know the importance of combating climate change.”
Sustainability coordinator for the Community Sports Trust, Natasha Messier, said: “The Green Football weekend is such an exciting opportunity!
“Plus, signing up to Planet League and scoring Green Goals for CUFC is a great way for us all to start making the changes that our planet so desperately needs.”
The campaign is set to become an annual event, and is backed by more than 30 organisations, including the FSA, FA, EFL, WSL, National Trust, RSPB and the Church of England, as well as media outlets Sky Sports, BT Sport, First News and campaign groups Pledgeball, Planet League and Count Us In.
